Safety card
Use the reusable QR card as an offline fallback.
How it works
The safety card is a reusable QR code for your profile. Print it and leave it on your dashboard before hiking. If someone finds your car and scans the code, HikeRuleOne.com resolves your current hiking state from your active or recent hike.
The card has several states: invalid, idle, active, overdue, and recently completed. When a hike is active and still within its expected return time, the page stays limited. When the hike needs attention, it exposes more detail that can help someone respond.
The safety card is useful even when email delivery is unavailable or contacts have not verified yet. It gives a person physically near your vehicle a way to understand what is happening and find the public details page for the hike.
When to reprint
You usually print the safety card once and reuse it forever. The QR code points to your profile safety-card token, not a specific hike, so new hikes automatically use the same printed card.
Reprint only if you regenerate the safety-card token or want a cleaner copy. Regenerating intentionally disables the old token, so an old printed card will show that the card is no longer active.
The safety-card management page also shows public scan statistics for the current token. Owner and admin previews are still logged for audit purposes, but they do not inflate the scan count shown to hikers.
